Jersey Sabrina de We Are Knitters /Sabrina sweater by We Are Knitters

¿Cómo he aparecido dentro de un Pollock?/ What am I doing inside a Pollock painting? (Number One, 1950 by Jackson Pollock

I will never win a prize as the fastest knitter. It took me almost the whole summer (or three seasons of Mad Men) to finish this sweater. By the way, does it also happen to you that you “listen” to the series when knitting or crocheting?

The pattern is from We Are Knitters and it is very easy to follow. In the kit picture the length of the cuffs is twice the one in the pattern, in case someone wants to do it that way. There are five balls of yarn in the kit and, strictly following the pattern instructions, I’ve used three balls and a half. I should think of a new project for the leftovers. I really like this colour!

¡Feliz RUMS!

Calcetines tabi/ Tabi socks

¡Gracias, Lolita!

In 2008, I met Lolita Blahnik while visiting a friend. Lolita offered herself to drive me to the airport and, on the way, we talk by chance about our love for knitting. Until then I was learning from one of my grandmothers and some magazines. Lolita told me about her blog 'Viento del Este, viento del Oeste', which I keep on visiting, and I discovered – yes, I hadn't thought before about searching this in Internet!- that Internet is a great source of resources for knitting. And since then on, I go jumping wild from blog to blog to Ravelry and Youtube tutorials.

One of the resources that I appreciated the most as a beginner was the highly recommendable diccionary English-Spanish of abbreviations in Lolita’s blog.

And the first thing I knitted in this post-Internet period were these tabi socks, pattern in Spanish by Lolita Blahnik.

Thanks, Lolita!

La primera entrada/ The first post

Although I think that we should get started on knitting or sewing with the help of someone who is phisically there (relatives, friends, courses...), who corrects us when doing something weird and who shows us the social side of these usually lonely activities, it finally comes the time to walk alone. Books and magazines are really helpful at this point and, with them, the experience told in their blogs by loads of people who share stories, tricks, patterns, links and more links knitting a huge net of knowledge for all kinds of taste.

As I am so grateful to all the blogs I have learned so much from, I would like to be part of that net  with this other blog of knitting and sewing. I hope it to be helpful to other people.
